Does Australia Broadband charge any connection or installation fees?
No, Australia Broadband does not charge any activation or setup fees and standard NBN Co installations are completed at no cost to you.
Does the NBN Co charge any connection or installation fees?
A small number of homes may be subject to an NBN Co Non-Standard Installation or a NBN Co New Development Charge of $300. If your new address is subject to any of these NBN Co charges, we’ll let you know before the installation and get your permission before you’re charged.
How do I get connected to the nbnTM with Australia Broadband?
The first step is to check your address on our and find out if your address is nbnTM ready.
Your address is nbnTM ready
If you’ve checked your address on our and the results advised say that you’re address is ready to get nbnTM, congratulations!
All you’ll need to do is build your NBN Plan and sign up online. It takes less than 2 minutes and once your order has been accepted, we’ll look after the nbnTM arrangements. If it turns out you need an NBN Co technician to visit and install some nbnTM equipment, don’t worry – we’ll help organise this for you.

If your address is not nbn™ ready, you can’t order an nbn™ service. if you have checked your address using our address checker we'll we'll send you an email and SMS as soon as your address is nbn-ready.
How long will it take to get my Australia Broadband on the nbnTM connected
The connection time frame will depends whether or not your new address has been connected to the nbnTM previously.
My new home has previously been connected to the nbnTM
If your new home has been previously connected to the nbnTM, we’ll normally activate your Australia Broadband nbnTM service typically within 2-5 days. This may take longer if the former tenant or owner did not disconnect their nbnTM service before you moved in.
It is the first time my new home is connecting to the nbnTM
If it is the first time your new home is connecting to the nbn network, we’ll arrange the first available appointment with NBN Co for an NBN Co technician to connect your nbnTM service. Typically, new nbnTM connections are completed by the NBN Co within 5-20 business days. This varies depending on your nbnTM connection type as well as the availability of the NBN Co technicians in your area.
We will let you know if you need an appointment after we have submited your order to the NBN Co.

NBN Co Timeframes: Please note that these are usual timeframes only. We may be able to get you online sooner or your order may take a little longer than anticipated. While Australia Broadband will always do its best to get you connected as soon as possible, it is the NBN Co (or its third party contractor) that performs all nbnTM connections and installations across Australia, therefore connection timeframes are determined solely by the NBN Co Ltd.
NBN Co Technicians: Sometimes when an NBN Co technician attempts to connect your service they might discover that the job will require more work than expected and they may not be able to complete all the work on the day. Sometimes NBN Co technicians can’t make it to your premises on the agreed day due to weather conditions or other unforeseen events. If this happens, we’ll keep you updated as we work with the NBN Co to complete your connection.
Do I need a phone line to get Australia Broadband Internet on the nbnTM ?
No, you do not need an active phone line to get an internet service on the nbnTM. Unlike ADSL, the nbnTM does not require you to have an active landline. Most ADSL customers only have a phone line so they can have an internet connection. With the nbnTM, the internet service is connected first and you have the option to use your mobile or if you want to retain your home phone number or use a traditional home phone service, you’ll need subscribe to a Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) phone service.
What do most nbnTM customers do for a phone service?
Most nbnTM customers choose to have an internet only nbnTM service and use their mobile for their phone service. On the nbnTM, you can also use Voice over IP (VoIP) programs or apps like Skype, Apple’s FaceTime (through Macs, iPads, iPhone and iWatch), Google Hangouts, Vonage and many more. Many VoIP service are free when you call another VoIP services using the internet. To keep things simple, Australia Broadband recommends you use the nbnTM for internet only, choose a mobile provider with unlimited calls and use Skype to make international calls to friends and family for free.
Can Australia Broadband provide a phone service?
Australia Broadband does not provide a home phone service. This means you won't be able to keep your existing landline phone number and you'll need to use your mobile to make and receive calls.
Do I have to pay phone line rental on my NBNTM plan?
No, as you do not need an active phone line to get an internet service on the nbnTM, you do not have to pay any line rental.
Contract Free
All Australia Broadband NBN Plans are Contract Free and you are you cancel at any time. You can cancel your subscription at any time by informing us before the end of the month.
No Connection or Hidden Fees
Australia Broadband does not charge any activation or setup fees and standard NBN Co installations are completed at no cost to you. With Australia Broadband, there are no setup fees, no plan change fees, no relocation fees (if you are moving to another nbn-ready area) and no worries.
Simple Billing
Your Australia Broadband subscription is a prepaid service and you'll be direct debited on or around the 1st day of each month for that month’s subscription. Our payment options are Visa and MasterCard.
Order Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your order before activation of your service and your order is in progress with the NBN Co, you’ll be charged 1 months’ plan fee. An order is deemed to be “in progress” once you have received an order number from us and your payment has been processed.
NBN Installation
After you have submitted your order, Australia Broadband will confirm if an installation appointment is needed. If an installation appointment is needed, Australia Broadband will organise this with the NBN Co and contact you with the appointment details. You or an authorised person over 18 years of age will be required to be at the premises on the day of the appointment.

IP Address
All NBN plans come with Dynamic IP address. Static IP addresses are available for $10 extra per month. You can request a Static IP address after your internet service is connected by contacting Customer Support
NBN Co charges may apply to some customers
Some homes may be subject to an NBN Co Non-Standard Installation or a NBN Co New Development Charge of $300.If your home is subject to any of these NBN Co charges, we’ll let you know and get your permission before you’re charged.
NBN Co charges are charged by the NBN Co Ltd and not Australia Broadband. If you give us permission to go ahead with the NBN Co Non-Standard Installation and/or NBN Co New Development Charge, Australia Broadband will pass this NBN Co charge onto to you at cost.

Limitations and Availability
Australia Broadband personal nbnTM plans are consumer-grade services, may not be used for commercial purposes and are only available within nbn-ready areas subject to nbnTM infrastructure availability at your premises.
This service will not function in the event of a power failure or disruption or an internet outage and is not suitable if you have a serious illness or life-threatening condition, if you require disability services or if you require an uninterrupted phone line.
